Role Overview:

The role of the Senior Operations Analyst is to ensure the timely and accurate settlements of cash flows of Interest Rates, Credit and FX Option Derivative trades on behalf of the client. This involves both individually conducting pre-settlements check and affirmation of cashflows with counterparties, identifying and resolving any issues that may prevent timely settlement, as well as monitoring that the team is performing the same.

 

Role Overview:

The role of the Settlements Service Analyst is to ensure the timely and accurate settlements of cash flows of Interest Rates, Credit and FX Option Derivative trades on behalf of the client. This involves conducting pre-settlements check and affirmation of cashflows with counterparties, identifying and resolving any issues that may prevent timely settlement.  The role reports into the Settlements or Post-settlements manager, with oversight responsibilities shared by the supervisor.

 

Core Responsibilities:

The Settlements function serves as a layer of control where booking issues such as incorrect economics (i.e., wrong direction, currency, index, notional, counterparty, etc.) are detected, escalated and resolved. The Analyst is expected to ensure the timely affirmation of cashflows with counterparties and performing all pre-settlements checks, settlement of cashflows and timely escalation of issues and discrepancies.

The role also encompasses Investigations function that requires timely follow up on failed settlements, reconciliations and investigations of Nostro and Suspense breaks stemming from systemic or economic issues, fully observing the procedures and policies of the function. Engaging with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner and responding to queries/swift messages following SLAs, with consideration of urgency and importance.

Skills and Experience Required

Knowledge 

  •          Microsoft Office (Excel, Word etc)

  •          Financial market - general principles and products of the markets

  •          Derivatives Products

  •          Trade Life Cycle functions and responsibilities - FO, MO, TMG, Confirmations, Reconciliations, Cash Management

  •          Standard Settlements Instruction

  •          ISDA definitions and market standards related to settlements

  •          Swift messages, especially MT101, MT199, MT202, MT202COV, MT299, MT103

  •          Business writing and communication

  •          Customer service skills

Additional Skills (good to have)

  •          Knowledge in VBA

  •          Practices curiosity by questioning effectiveness of the process and exploring innovative solutions

  •          Connects to colleagues and stakeholders to support broader initiatives of the business unit

 Experience 

  •          At least 18 months and in Good/Performing status in their current function

  •          Able to function in high pressure operations environment

  •          Able to work in a flexible working environment

  •          Ability to maintain focus while working within a dynamic, high-volume environment

  •          Prior Calypso/Summit and other settlements and clearing platform knowledge is beneficial

  •          Knowledge and experience in Settlements and Investigations functions are preferred

 

Qualifications

Business, Management, Finance and Accounting graduate or equivalent preferred.
