Job description
Role Overview:
EQD Settlements and Investigations covers the entire settlement cycle for Structured Equity Derivatives and Prime Finance Swaps.
Managerial role that is responsible and accountable for the settlements and investigations function of the region, ensuring the timely and accurate settlement of cross asset cash flows.
The leadership dimension of the role requires exhibiting a Growth Mindset by effectively managing the business of today, through the monitoring of all queues of the team, and, the performance of individuals within the team in its conducting of all tasks related to the settlements and investigations function, identifying and resolving any issues that may prevent timely and accurate settlement.
The settlements function also serves as a layer of control where booking issues such as incorrect economics (wrong direction, currency, index, notional, counterparty, etc.) are detected, escalated, and resolved
Accountable for building Resilience by serving as a referral and escalation point for the team, and performing control functions such as approving journals and payments, monitoring settlement and payment task stations, and ensuring that the control framework is effective and consistently adhered to.
Should demonstrate strong inclination for Developing Others as the incumbent is expected to provide guidance and support to the members of the team, seeing to their on-going development and improvement of expertise.
Communicating with Impact is a highly sought skill as facing off with the business and the onshore management team is a key responsibility. This requires a broad understanding of the business, and balancing of the needs of the business areas with the local and global requirements, while also influencing the direction of the team towards a future state.
KRAs:
Ensures the team performs its function in a timely and accurate manner
Ensures that all relevant KRIs, KPIs, and KQIs are monitored and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
Ensures that material issues are identified as quickly as possible and they are escalated and followed up
Continually improves the capabilities of the team, and ensures the changing requirements of the markets and business are fully met.
Ensures disciplined root cause analysis of issues and breaks, and ensures clear strategy in addressing them.
Implements business strategy
Ensures customer and stakeholder are responded to by the team in a timely manner, with due consideration of urgency and importance
Ensures a high degree of professionalism and courtesy is demonstrated by the team
Ensures strong team engagement, employee retention, and appropriate reward and recognition.
Implements and observes performance management
Provides guidance and support to members outside the immediate team
Ensures the control framework is continuously improved for its effectiveness, by testing and reviews.
Job requirements
Skills and Experience Required:
· High level of ownership, self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision
· Willingness to Learn and Sense of Urgency
· Working knowledge of front-to-back system infrastructure
· Working knowledge of the trade lifecycle
· Experience of managing within a complex matrix environment
· Capability to quickly adapt & learn in a highly dynamic working environment
· Adoptive to change
· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and manage relationships with senior stakeholders globally
Experience
• Certification or Knowledge on Change and Transformation, which covers the following aspects:
Leading change
Managing change
Implementing change
• At least 5 years in treasury operations, especially settlements
• At least 5 years as a team manager
• Payments and/or cash management experience
• High pressure operations environment
• Experience in broad (e.g. firm-wide) project implementation
• Managing senior stakeholders
• Managing in a global organization
