Role - Azure Cloud Ops Engineer
Employment Type - Fixed term contract - 6 months
Mode - Hybrid/ Remote
Role Overview:
We are seeking an Azure Cloud Ops Engineer to support the administration, optimization, security, and ongoing operation of a cloud-based technology platform hosted on Microsoft Azure. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining platform availability and performance, automating infrastructure and operational processes, supporting cloud governance, and collaborating with development, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver a secure and scalable cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and optimize Azure cloud infrastructure, including VMs, App Services, AKS, and other core Azure services.
Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and security using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and automated alerting solutions.
Configure and maintain Azure networking and security components, including VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Azure AD, Key Vault, and Defender for Cloud.
Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
Automate operational and deployment processes using PowerShell, Bash, and scripting technologies.
Support CI/CD processes and work closely with development teams to improve deployment efficiency and platform reliability.
Maintain infrastructure documentation, operational procedures, architecture diagrams, and service inventories.
Support incident management, troubleshooting, problem resolution, and end-user requests.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Development, Cloud Operations, Security, and Governance functions.
Implement and support Azure governance standards using Azure Policy, Blueprints, and cloud security best practices.
Monitor cloud consumption and support cost optimisation initiatives using Azure Cost Management and FinOps principles.
Provide recommendations on secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure design.
Job requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
3+ years' experience in Azure Infrastructure, Cloud Operations, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Systems Administration roles.
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including:
Azure Virtual Machines
Azure App Services
Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Azure Monitor & Log Analytics
Azure Networking (VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers)
Azure AD and Key Vault
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM Templates, and/or Bicep).
Experience administering Windows and Linux environments.
Knowledge of containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell and/or Bash.
Understanding of cloud monitoring, incident management, and operational support processes.
Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar tools.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
Desirable Experience
Experience with Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, or MySQL databases.
Exposure to FinOps, Azure Cost Management, and cloud cost optimisation initiatives.
Experience implementing Azure Policy and governance frameworks.
Familiarity with ServiceNow, Zendesk, or other ITSM platforms.
Experience working closely with Security, CISO, Risk, or Governance teams.
Experience supporting cloud platforms within regulated or financial services environments.
Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, or equivalent).

Expectations regarding hybrid working: As we are a Service Provider and Consulting firm servicing clients, our policy for physically working from the office (which may be the clients' offices or our own offices depending on the client) aligns to what our clients' policies and expectations are and these vary. Most of our clients now require a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days from home, and accordingly this is also the minimum expectation that Delta Capita require.
