Job description
Job Title: Blockchain / DLT Developer Developer
Location: Ipswich, London or Remote
As a Blockchain Developer at MACH, you will play a central role in designing, building, and deploying distributed ledger and smart contract solutions for our financial services clients. You will work across Ethereum, Hedera, Algorand, and MACH Chain (our proprietary blockchain platform) to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance decentralised applications. Collaborating with cross-functional teams including architects, product managers, and client stakeholders, you will bring deep technical expertise and a proactive approach to solving complex on-chain challenges.
Job requirements
Responsibilities include:
Design, develop, and deploy smart contracts and decentralised applications across Ethereum, Hedera, Algorand, and MACH Chain (our proprietary blockchain).
Design and implement blockchain-based solutions tailored to the specific requirements of financial services clients.
Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of MACH Chain, including protocol-level improvements and tooling.
Collaborate with backend engineers, solution architects, and product managers to integrate blockchain components with broader platform services and APIs.
Conduct rigorous smart contract auditing, testing, and optimisation to ensure security, correctness, and gas efficiency.
Stay current with emerging developments across Ethereum (EVM/L2), Hedera Hashgraph, Algorand, and the broader DLT ecosystem.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
Engage with project managers, product managers and business analysts to understand requirements, present solutions, and support delivery.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of MACH's development processes, standards, and tooling.
As an experienced Blockchain Developer, you will have:
Experience working specifically with security tokens on distributed ledgers.
Proven hands-on experience developing and deploying smart contracts on Ethereum (Solidity) and familiarity with at least one of Hedera (Solidity/Hedera Token Service) or Algorand (PyTEAL/TEAL/ARC standards).
Strong understanding of blockchain fundamentals including consensus mechanisms, cryptographic primitives, tokenomics, and DLT architectures.
Experience working with Web3 libraries such as Web3.js, Ethers.js, or equivalent SDKs for Hedera and Algorand.
Proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g. Node.js, Python, Go, Java) and RESTful/event-driven API design.
Familiarity with blockchain development toolchains including Hardhat, Truffle, Foundry, or equivalent.
Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a rigorous approach to security and edge-case reasoning.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment with competing priorities.
Desirable
Experience with or exposure to proprietary enterprise blockchain platforms.
Knowledge of Layer 2 scaling solutions (e.g. Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism) and cross-chain interoperability protocols.
Familiarity with DeFi protocols and token standards (ERC-20, ERC-1400, ERC-3643).
Experience in financial services, capital markets, or fintech environments.
Understanding of regulatory and compliance considerations relevant to blockchain deployments in financial services.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure.
Exposure to Agile and DevOps methodologies.
