Role Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Consulting Department in Sheffield as a Portfolio Manager, where you’ll play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial and delivery health of a major technology portfolio within a leading financial institution. Role Responsibilities:
Maintain governance and oversight of the Value Stream Technology Portfolio, ensuring financial and delivery health across change and run-the-business activities.
Proactively track and report Value Stream/Sub-Value Stream spend to Technology, Business, and Portfolio Management teams, ensuring accountability and transparency.
Ensure systems accurately reflect forecasts and budgets based on known requirements.
Hold programme managers to account throughout delivery, facilitating challenge sessions and ensuring timely issue resolution.
Establish and maintain strong collaboration with second and third lines of defence (2LOD and 3LOD).
Govern and report on agreed metrics for the Value Stream, embedding standardised performance indicators across delivery teams.
Support the Value Stream Technology Lead with governance, resourcing, and strategic reporting.
Coordinate strategic planning cycles to align financial investment decisions with technology strategy, risk appetite, and broader business goals.
Manage quarterly tollgates and changes to financial targets, ensuring supplier budgets are correctly interlocked.
Provide summarised financial analysis for key stakeholders, including headcount, rate, and position changes.
Ensure senior stakeholders are fully briefed on programme statuses and risks.
Job requirements
Required Skills and Experience:
Proven leadership experience in programme or portfolio management within financial services, ideally in a large-scale or multinational environment.
Strong understanding of technology operational management, including regulatory, market, and competitive dynamics.
Deep financial and commercial awareness, with experience managing large-scale budgets and resource plans.
Demonstrated success in organisational transformation and project portfolio delivery in complex, matrixed organisations.
Ability to manage and mitigate operational risk effectively.
Expert knowledge of stakeholder requirements, competitor activities, and market trends to influence strategic direction.
Experience with financial planning tools and reporting platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

Expectations regarding hybrid working: As we are a Service Provider and Consulting firm servicing clients, our policy for physically working from the office (which may be the client’s offices or our own offices depending on the client) aligns to what our client’s policies and expectations are and these vary. Most of our client’s now require a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days from home, and accordingly this is also the minimum expectation that Delta Capita require.
