Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Consultant Database Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our large-scale data warehousing project within the wealth management sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database engineering, data warehousing, and consulting, with a strong focus on optimising data systems for performance, security, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Architecture: Lead the design and architecture of robust, scalable, and secure data warehouse solutions tailored to wealth management needs.

  • Data Modelling: Develop and maintain complex data models, schemas, and dictionaries to support business intelligence and analytics.

  • ETL Processes: Design, implement, and optimise ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure efficient data integration and transformation.

  • Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimise database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and caching strategies.

  • Data Security: Implement stringent data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and regular audits to protect sensitive financial data.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and IT staff, to ensure seamless integration and data flow.

  • Consulting: Provide expert consulting services to clients, offering insights and recommendations to improve data management practices and achieve business goals.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database designs, processes, and procedures.

  • Training and Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and provide training on best practices in database engineering and data warehousing.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in database engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or consulting role within the wealth management sector.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. Experience with data warehousing tools like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data requirements and develop effective solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Familiarity with wealth management industry standards and regulations.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale data warehousing projects.

This is a permanent full-time position located in London. Expectations regarding hybrid working: As we are a Service Provider and Consulting firm servicing clients, our policy for physically working from the office (which may be the clients' offices or our own offices depending on the client) aligns to what our clients' policies and expectations are and these vary. Most of our clients now require a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days from home, and accordingly this is also the minimum expectation that Delta Capita require.
