Role: Senior Operations Analyst - Settlements 

Location: Quezon City

Employment Type: Permanent


Role Overview:

The role of the senior operations analyst is to ensure the timely and accurate settlement of cashflows of interest rate derivatives (IRD),Credit Default Swap (CDS) and Total Return Swap (TRS) trades on behalf of our client. This involves both individually conducting pre-settlement checks and affirmation of the cashflows with counterparties, identifying and resolving any issues that may prevent timely and settlement, as well as monitoring that the team is performing the same. 

The settlements function also serves as a layer of control where booking issues such as incorrect economics (wrong direction, currency, index, notional, counterparty, etc.) are detected, escalated, and resolved. To this end, the senior operations analyst is expected to ensure the timely settlement of the cashflow and at the same time identify these risks, fully observing the procedures and policies of the function, both as an individual allocated specific work and as a supervisor of the activities of the team. 

The senior settlements analyst is a subject matter expert, serving as a referral and escalation point for the team, as well as performing some control functions such as approving journals and payments, monitoring settlement and payment task stations, and supporting the manager in ensuring the function executes its mandate. 

  

This role reports to the settlements manager, and the senior operations analyst will be tasked with some managerial duties by subject matter experts. 

Job requirements

Core Responsibilities:


  • Affirming IRD cashflows with counterparties and performing all pre-settlement checks (SSI’s, booking, etc.) and settling cashflows accurately.
  • Monitoring of team performance aligned with the daily KPI’s around settlements and ensuring appropriate actions are undertaken if issues arise.  
  • Timely identification and escalation of issues that may delay the settlement of cash flows and create exceptions.
  • Addressing all requests received from our internal and external clients in a timely manner .
  • Adhering to all policies and procedures.
  • Some investigations tasks may be required.


Skills and Experience Required

         

Knowledge

  • Life cycle of interest rate derivatives – booking, resets, fixing advices and settlements.
  • Calculation/verification of interest cashflows.
  • Understanding of operational control environments.
  • Prior Swift messaging knowledge/understanding is beneficial (MT103, MT199, MT202, MT202COV and MT299).
  • (Standard) Settlement Instructions.
  • Currency cut-offs and regulations.
  • Interpretation of confirmation documents – electronic and paper.
  • Familiarity with ISDA definitions.
  • Familiarity with market standards related to settlements.
  • Cash management and funding requirements.
  • An understanding of Markets trade life cycles including bookings, validations, reconciliation, and confirmation.
  • An understanding of Nostro accounts. 
  • Business writing and communication.
  • MS Office and especially Excel.  
  • A general understanding of financial markets and the principles of derivative products of the financial markets.

Experience

  • At least 2 treasury operations and settlements experience preferred.
  • Payments and/or cash management experience.
  • High pressure operations environment. 
  • Ability to maintain focus while working within a dynamic, high-volume environment.
  • Prior Calypso/Summit knowledge beneficial.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred. 

Qualifications

  • Business, Management, Finance and Accounting graduates or equivalent.
  • IT and Science graduates are also welcome.

Expectations regarding hybrid working: As we are a Service Provider and Consulting firm servicing clients, our policy for physically working from the office (which may be the clients' offices or our own offices depending on the client) aligns to what our clients' policies and expectations are and these vary. Most of our clients now require a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days from home, and accordingly this is also the minimum expectation that Delta Capita require.
