VP - Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Delta Capita is embarking on a critical Hosting Migration Programme to move an Azure hosted platform from vendor managed subscriptions into Delta Capita’s Azure tenant. This programme is central to our strategy of strengthening governance, reducing cost, and enabling scalability across our technology estate.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will report to the Head of SRE (CMMS) and act as the technical authority for Azure cloud infrastructure. The role is both strategic and hands-on: defining standards for Azure cloud architecture, working with our selected MicroSoft partner in migrating the hosting of Azure applications to our tenant, and establishing a sustainable foundation for long-term support of our products hosted in Azure Cloud as part of the CMMS SRE team.

You will be responsible for:

• Defining and maintaining architectural standards for Azure hosted applications in alignment with our overall Cloud and Security standards.

• Partnering with Microsoft cloud specialists to onboard and optimise Azure services.

• Ensuring Cloud hosted applications are resilient, compliant, and cost-effective.

• Building skills and understanding of Cloud architecture standards through training and creating knowledge bases for the development and support teams responsible for the Delta Capita CMMS product portfolio.

• Collaborating closely with the Project Management Capability team to align delivery milestones with technical execution.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Migration Leadership

• Own and drive the migration strategy and roadmap for multiple applications into Azure.

• Lead technical workshops and design sessions with internal teams and external Microsoft partners.

• Ensure dependencies are identified, validated, and tested prior to cutover.

• Champion a “zero downtime” approach to migration, with minimal client disruption.

Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Design, build, and manage Azure environments including:

  • VNETs, subnets, gateways, and load balancers.

  • Containerisation (AKS) and serverless services.

  • Storage (SQL Managed Instances, Blob Storage, File Shares).

  • Event-driven services (Event Hub, Service Bus, Functions).

• Implement and enforce cloud governance policies around access, security, cost, and compliance.

• Manage identity and access integration with Azure AD, including client SSO enablement.

DevOps & Automation

• Establish CI/CD pipelines and automation for application deployments and infrastructure updates.

• Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep) for standardisation and repeatability.

• Drive continuous improvement through automation of provisioning, patching, and scaling.

Monitoring, Resilience & Operations

• Define and implement end-to-end monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies using Azure Monitor, App Insights, and Log Analytics.

• Consolidate legacy monitoring into Delta Capita’s central observability framework.

• Design, document, and test Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) plans for multi-region resilience.

• Ensure BAU operational teams have clear runbooks, escalation paths, and 24/7 support processes.

Collaboration & Governance

• Work closely with development and application teams to ensure workloads are cloud-ready, resilient, and optimised for Azure.

• Support change management processes and ensure smooth handover to operational support teams.

Technical Expertise

• Experience in managing large-scale Azure application and cloud infrastructure delivery.

• Deep understanding of:

  • Azure networking (VNETs, NSGs, gateways, load balancers).

  • Container orchestration (AKS, Kubernetes, Helm).

  • Azure data services (SQL MI, Cosmos DB, Blob, Data Lake).

  • Event-driven and messaging services (Event Hub, Service Bus, Functions).

  • Monitoring/observability (Azure Monitor, App Insights, Log Analytics).

• Strong experience with DevOps tooling and practices, including CI/CD, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).

Leadership & Delivery

• Experience working with Microsoft cloud partners and third-party vendors.

• Strong knowledge of cloud security, compliance frameworks, and governance controls.

• Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge technical delivery and project management disciplines.

• Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing skills to embed processes into BAU.

Preferred

• Certifications such as AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert) or AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer Expert).

• Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integration with on-premise systems.

• Prior exposure to financial services or regulated environments.

Role Outlook

The immediate priority is delivering the Hosting Migration Programme, this role will continue to evolve and operate Delta Capita’s Azure estate — ensuring our cloud platforms are secure, scalable, cost-efficient, and aligned with business growth.
